Drawing From Life.

"Which story do you want me to tell you tonight, Nami?" A 20 something man asked the little girl. His back was pressed against his daughter's bed rest, her tiny stature in his lap. Cloud waited in silence as the six year old etched out a simple drawing onto her new sketchpad in front of her. Having always been a quiet child, Naminé had taken up drawing rather than speaking—the same could not be said of her elder brother Sora though—the youngster clearly talented beyond her years.

His concentration was broke at the slight tug on his sleeve. Big blue, almost sad eyes, looked up at him, her free hand point to the sketch. Tilting his head slightly he made out various stars, a planet with six rings, and a pirate ship. He grinned, knowing that the story chosen was one of her favorite tales: The Star Pirates and the Jewels of Blackheart Moon.

"Again?" She nodded several times, each time pushing the picture to closer and closer to him. Stopping her by placing his hand on her head, he ruffled her hair. "Alright, alright, I'll tell it to you again!" Blowing a lose strand of hair out of her face, she gave a wide smile. "Though are sure me reading this too you has nothing to do with that one character that reminds you of Roxas boy from class?"

In an instant her face was flushed red and the little girl was stuttering. "P-papa! No! " she said huffily, before hiding her face into the torso of his shirt.  He chuckled again, before clearing his throat. "Do you remember what I or your mother said about the stars; how they're really just the heart other planets shining through the night?" Leaning off the cloth, she nodded at him.

"Long ago, on one of those stars, a young trio of kids lived on the streets of a medieval styled city," Naminé giggled at how her father's voice took a deep, movie like undertone, but stopped to listen to what he was saying.

"Racing through this metropolis was a raven haired girl by the name of Nyx, a blond and redheaded boy on her heels. 'Roven, Leo, hurry up before we get caught by the guards!' She cried at them, glancing backwards briefly, her hands against the amount of apples underneath her shirt. The boys stumbled after her, their pants pockets and shirts sporting similar bulges," Cloud eyes went to his daughter, as she began sketching out what he described to her as best she could. Her tiny hands seemed to fly against the paper; really she was a sight for sore eyes….

They had just gotten to the part where the boys discovered that Nyx was not an orphan, when Cloud felt Naminé's body still. Her grip on the chalk loosened a bit, as her head nodded itself against his chest. It was her soft breathing, though, that let him know that she was finally asleep. Scooping her up gently with one hand, he parted her hair back with the other, before using it to move her drawing supplies and peel back the cover.

Just as he was about to tuck her in an kiss her good night, he caught a glimpse of his wife standing in the doorway out of the peripherals. Gently brushing behind a lock of blonde hair, a lighter shade than his own, Cloud kissed the child's forehead before heading to the doorway. Taking Aerith in to a tight embrace as he pressed his mouth against her head, he chuckled at how Naminé looked as if she were one of her drawings: simple, clean, and innocent.
